How to Open Doors Through Branding

By November 21, 2017No Comments

WORK ETHIC IS A BRAND. It is the action component of how you represent yourself. Strong work ethic is like an engine that never breaks down; it demonstrates how you spend your time and shows what you have accomplished through actions that support your brand image. If you lack initiative and wander around without focus, then you are a brand name called “inconsistent.” Turning this around can be the game changer to building up your self-esteem. This is truly a practiced decision for both today and every day. Accomplishing this means focusing on the most important goals you have to achieve each day. Working within your brand can be the hardest thing you have to do to stay ahead of the curve, but it will pay off immensely!

Continuous personal branding can be as simple as staying true to yourself.
This will keep you consistent and in the driver’s seat of your life. Once you brand who you are and how you lead your brand, you will be in control of what doors you want to open.

Tip: Create a deadline for yourself and then at the end of the day, debrief on what you achieved or what you didn’t. Just like a fighter jet pilot or a sports team, regroup and evaluate what worked, what didn’t, and how to constantly improve your brand image.

Preparation is extremely important to branding yourself, more so than anything else. If you don’t think so, try flying a plane without learning how to first be a pilot. It sounds severe – and it is, because if you don’t take preparation seriously then you might be branding yourself like a kite. Kites are great fun, but at some point after flying, they drift and fall.

Branding can be uncomfortable if it means taking on new challenges to back up your brand. Over time, your brand will strengthen with evidence of success. The more success you achieve, the more comfortable you will be within your brand and the more people will want to associate with your brand. This is what you call never giving up until you get the greatest out of your time and life, which at the end of the day is the greatest adventure you will take when building your own brand.

Brand yourself to the point that when people think of you, they think of positive qualities which they automatically associate with your image. For example, when you think of a dachshund, what comes to mind? Intelligence, loyalty, affection, and playfulness – all positive qualities in any puppy. When people think of you, what words would they use to brand you?

8 Overlooked Tips for Powerful Personal Branding:

  1. How would you want your image to be viewed in both the best and worst of times? This equals staying consistent with your brand.

  2. Brand your strengths, BUT ALSO rebrand your weaknesses into strengths.

  3. Go with a proven style, but stay true to yourself.

  4. Identify the strongest brand in your industry or home life that works best for you.

  5. Be your own business, otherwise you might lose your brand and identity.

  6. Build a specialty by developing your own unique skills or talents. This builds strong confidence in your brand.

  7. Learn to say “no.” Stay true to your own brand and choose opportunities or projects that align with your brand. Watch out for toxic brands.

  8. Invest in your own brand before you invest in any others – because the only competition you have is yourself.
